Premier Game Days

Richard Gray and the Barcham Shoot Team look after you extremely well. The food is good with bacon rolls, a light lunch of individual pies, goujons etc and lovely cake for tea. This is a Partridge Shoot with a few Pheasant and Duck. It shows partridges that are reminiscent of how they flew when I was a young shot. That is to say flooding through the line at lowish to medium height, with higher ones waiting to be picked out. The first drive, the higher numbers saw the bulk of the shooting. The lower numbers had a few that came their way too. The best birds came over the hedge flying fast over 6,7,8,9. The second drive was generally agreed by all of us as outstanding. It started with a number of low partridges coming through the line, then as the drive developed we had a flight of ducks, then the partridges started to fly strongly at a good height and these were then joined by a number of pheasants that were curling mostly to the lower numbers. I think every one had a good stand on this drive most shot double figures. The Third drive was my favourite I was number 9 and the partridges flew strongly and were curling either to my left or right and made for a fabulous drive where I had 6. Others also had a few good birds over them my neighbour killing a really good partridge with the second barrel out behind him. The Fourth Drive we must have started when we were well over the bag already and it was a smaller drive but even so I think 15 were shot on that drive, all of them were good birds. All in all a cracking day with a really good ambience my friends have all asked to do it again next year which is as good a recommendation as any.[more]

Richard’s shoots are always just better than anything comparable. The combination of great hospitality, excellent organization and especially, plenty of shooting is just outstanding. I’ve spent more, but never had more fun than a day out with Richard.[more]

Another fantastic day put on by Richard. Shot here 3 times now and every day has been brilliant. John is a great host and looked after the guns all day. Martin put on some excellent drives and all the guns had a thoroughly enjoyable day.[more]

I went with my Son and loaded for him. We had a great day, lots of shooting and very nicely run. We really enjoyed the day.[more]

Thank you to Richard, who was a fantastic host. We met at a local B&B for a lovely breakfast where we had the opportunity to meet the other guns (it was a mixed team). Martin, the keeper gave us a brilliant day and his team looked after us all impeccably throughout. Some excellent drives including a couple of drives on a disused colliery which was something different and really interesting! The bag was met with ease and plenty of birds were on show so we could pick the good ones without worrying about the bag. All in all it was a fantastic day, so much so that we've already booked another day with Richard and Martin for January.[more]
