After another very successful 2025 / 2026 season we are inviting enquiries from Ladies and Gentlemen young and old and of all capabilities who are interested in shooting on a friendly, relaxed and informal shoot. Shooting is over approximately 2000 acres of arable land just north of Boston in Lincolnshire. We shoot eight Saturdays during the season. Cost is £168 per day (2026 / 2027 season). We serve elevenses, which consists of local premium sausage rolls, pies, cake, excellent cheese and sloe gin (with bubbly and mince pies at Christmas) . Now also (when available) Jon's famous venison rolls. We take a short lunch break (bring your own pack up) there is also an excellent fish and chip shop close by. People interested in beating or just working their dogs are also most welcome (we are unfortunately unable to make payment however you are most welcome to partake in the elevenses). This shoot would suit experienced and novice alike, insurance through BASC or equivalent is required. In the interest of the environment fibre or bio degradable wad cartridges are now encouraged. We run a small sweepstake for fun with a cash prize or malt whiskey or Gin.
2025 / 2026 updates: The 25 / 26 season has been a great season, we again sold out of days early on. Bag quantities improved dramatically and the duck drive went down very well again for the fourth year. We intend to constantly improve on this for the 26 / 27 season. We will have some new drives to complement the old favourites. Team Prairie are dedicated to providing a very enjoyable day for an affordable price. We are very grateful to all of those who support the Prairie Shoot.
Shoot dates for the 2026 / 2027 Season October 10th & 24th November 7th & 21st December 5th & 19th* January 9th & 23rd
- Christmas shoot followed by pub dinner for those who wish to attend.
Please note: we will always endeavour to put on the day despite whatever the weather throws at us. However we do recommend that you consider shoot cancellation insurance from a suitable provider.
Hospitality
Elevenses, Local butcher sausage rolls, pies, cheese, sloe gin and cake. Bubbly and mince pies at Christmas. Now serving (when available) Jon's special venison rolls. A smile and a joke. Our elevenses always receive high praise and are noted amongst those who shoot with us. We have a Christmas meal and a pub visit to finish beaters day.
Topography
The land is typical Lincolnshire fens, big sky's, flat crossed with ditches, becks and hedgerows. there also occasional spinneys dotted about. There is suitable standing for all types of vehicles. You don't need a 4x4

About the hosts
Team Prairie are a small team Myself (Steve), Jon and Lemmy a friendly and accomplished retriever. We have several helpers including David and Chris. We are a friendly bunch who like to shoot well but have a laugh when we miss, there is quite a lot of laughing. We encourage all to have a go young, old, male female, expert, novice, all welcome.
We are also proud to be members of the British Game Alliance.
2021 saw us come runners up in the Guns on Pegs "Shoot of the year" awards.
2023 saw us win the Guns on Pegs top 100 shoots award.
2024 saw us win again the Guns on Pegs top 100 shoots award.

Have shot days on the prairie shoot over 2 seasons now after only joining the hobby within the last few days. I've thoroughly enjoyed spending days on the prairie shoot, fantastic group of people. The number of birds varies from day to day but great company is guaranteed.

A day at the prairie is always one to look forward to. The team are always friendly and helpful no matter how many times you forget your peg number, and go above and beyond to get birds up and get you on them and this seems to attract good people along with it. There’s always opportunity to work your dogs no matter how well trained they are. It’s a cheap day on good land and you’ll have a good day no matter what with some great people. You might even develop some good friendships in the community. There’s also a resident retriever “Russ” he’s lovely and will stop at nothing to get your bird.

Fantastic little shoot , Steve, John and Rob put a lot of effort in to make these days enjoyable . They’ve had some tough days this year because of the severe wet weather but they have “ weathered the storms “ and achieved some very enjoyable days , well done to all involved in making these days so enjoyable .
