Hoghton & Woodfold Estate Two estates steeped in history located between Blackburn and Preston in the Heart of rural Lancashire. Hoghton Tower is the ancestral home of the De Hoghton family which has been visited by many Kings and Queens over the years and Woodfold estate is owned by the descendants of Daniel Thwaites brewery Empire and has been in the family since 1849. Extending over 2,000 acres of woodland the shoot has built a reputation for presenting high, fast and challenging birds..
Hospitality
Full hospitality is provided and special requirements on request. People are welcome to bring there own dogs to work or relax and enjoy the experience dog teams picking up and beating for you.
Topography
Both estates are adjoining each other with drives along the banks of the river Darwen which produce stunning shooting from high hanging woods with cover crops situated in strategic positions..
Conservation Efforts
Both Estates participate in the countryside stewardship schemes under tenants who practice a regenerative method of farming and Land Management with a view of improving and sustaining the soil and encouraging the diversity of the ecology and nature.
About the hosts
Days are hosted by our shoot captain Neil Leeming who carries out the team talk, escorts the guest throughout the day, showing guns to their pegs and ensures the smooth running of the day..
