Located between the town of Ormskirk and the village of Rainford in West Lancashire, Bickerstaffe Shoot covers some 3,000 acres of mixed woodland and farmland.

The shoot is primarily a driven pheasant shoot that has been established over 60 years with in the region of 30 drives, but can also cater for walked up days, duck days and goose shooting.

A typical day starts with meeting at the Keepers Cottage, with morning coffee and the days briefing in the Gunroom.  Thereafter, the day generally consists of 6-7 drives with lunch taken in the Gunroom in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Lunch is provided by a local outside caterer and tea and coffee facilities are also available.

The shoot has a mixture of drives ranging, pushing the birds back into the woods from strategically located game crop and traditional beating of woodland areas.

We can provide the transport for the day and guns are welcome to bring along their partners/friends to share the day.

The shoot has a long established and experienced ‘picking up’ and ‘beating’ team who work closely with the shoot owner and gamekeeper to make the day as enjoyable as possible, however, those wishing to shoot and beat on alternative weeks are also welcome.

A full syndicate gun with ten days shooting and usually 100 bird days is £3,000 per gun/annum with half guns also available at £1,500 per gun/annum.

Please contact me if you wish to find out more about our shoot and be shown around.

I have had the pleasure of shooting on the Bickerstaffe shoot for a few seasons now; the drives offer sporting birds in a good variety and mixture of settings. They offer great hospitality with food and drink provided in the gunroom. I have always found Syndicate members, beaters and picker ups to be very friendly and welcoming, and the Gamekeeper exceptionally knowledgeable and accommodating. These factors combine to always deliver a great days shooting.
