Partridge

Dykefoot is an extremely exciting partridge shoot situated on the edge of the Pentland hills with outstanding scenery.

The drives are laid out so that the guns do not have to travel far and are an easy walk for all participants.

All of the drives offer challenging birds on an open moorland with a natural valley running throughout which allows for well presented birds.

A shooting lunch is included however we also offer an enhanced lunch for an additional fee for any group looking to upgrade to a 3 course lunch.

Hospitality

A standard shooting lunch is provided and can be adjusted to meet any dietary requirements. If your group would like a full 3 course lunch, this can be arranged at a small extra cost.

Topography

Dykefoot lies in the Pentland Hills just off the A70 approximately 3 miles East of Carnwarth and 18 miles West of Edinburgh. The shoot is based in a natural valley, on heather moorland, with young forestry plantations providing additional cover. Birds flush from either side of the valley providing an extremely testing shooting.

About the hosts

Dykefoot shoot was first designed by Humphrey Spurway who was one of the first people to successfully introduce partridges to heather moorland. It is now run by his son Charlie who is a huge enthusiast for all field sports and has continued to develop and improve the shoot wherever possible.
