Driven wild boar hunting in Hungary, but not as you would know it normally! Less hunters (8-10) will undertake more drives (4 or 5) per day, with the bag consisting mostly of wild boar, but also maybe a few red deer (hinds and calves) and foxes and possibly mouflon too.
Hospitality
3 meals per day are provided within the cost of the hunt. Breakfast and dinner are served at the hunting lodge, while lunch is normally taken in the field. The traditional Hungarian food served is both tasty and plentiful. Any alcohol consumed in the evening after hunting is charged at an additional cost as is the norm.
Topography
The ground is mostly hilly and covered in broadleaved woodland, but walking to the pegs for hunters is relatively easy with 4x4s getting you close to your peg, if not right to it. There are some fantastic views to be enjoyed whilst waiting for the wild boar to come to you!!
Conservation Efforts
The Hungarian forestry departments have managed their forests for decades, if not centuries, with long term management of their native flora and fauna at the heart of everything they do. You will not be unimpressed by the beauty of the countryside in Hungary.
About the hosts
The Hungarian staff organising the hunt know their ground inside out. They have managed the wildlife within their forests for decades and use driven hunting as a management tool to control the population of certain species, notably wild boar and deer. They will do their very best to put you in the right place and get animals to pass within range of you as they really do want you to have success!!
