As well as the Sporting Agency which offers trips across the UK, Europe and Africa we offer Simulated clay days at two excellent venues in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

1. Situated extremely close to London in East Hertfordshire, The Standon Estate was formerly owned by the Wellesley Family – the most famous member being Sir Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington who famously defeated Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo in 1815. The estate was partially split up and sold in the mid 1900’s by the Wellesley family with the majority being bought by the Smith family who own and farm it to this day. Historically the Wellesley Family had a long standing interest in driven game shooting and planted many hedges and woods on top of hilltops specifically for driven game shooting. All of which survive to this day. Woods such as Puddingsdane, Stags Park and Kitchencroft are considered flagship drives. Old game books from the early 1900’s show bags in excess of 300 wild English Partridge in a day. The estate still operates a small private game shoot to this day.

2. The Newton Farms Estate is a progressive mixed farming operation based in the village of Newton in South Cambridgeshire. The Estate is run by the Hurrell family who in addition to farming the family operates two well known Game Shoots at Newton Manor and Swaffham Prior. After the pandemic in 2021 the family has teamed up with Smith Fieldsports to offer a small number of simulated clay days on the estate at Newton. Utilising all the game shooting facilities. The main aim of the days are to emulate the famous Hurrell Hospitality that is always so well received on Game Days.

The clay days on each estate are designed to be good fun and consist of 4 or 5 extremely realistic drives – simulating all sorts of game and vermin alike. Hospitality is served throughout with a home cooked sit down meal at the end of the day in the purpose built shoot room.
