Painesend Farm is a family run professional shoot offering a mixture of really good quality partridge and pheasant shooting, making the most of rolling hills on the northern edge of the Chilterns.

We host a number of days through the season, starting in September all the way through to the end of January. There is a long list of regular guns who visit us every season and we offer a great degree of flexibility by allowing our guns to book whole days or individual pegs.

From the fun gun bus to the warm and welcoming shoot room, we pride ourselves on making the most of every aspect of the shoot.

We release an even number of pheasant and partridge to provided a truly mixed bag. The partridge keep our guns on their toes throughout the drives and the pheasants help provide a good test for all abilities.

We do not believe in charging any overage on our days. And we can often exceed the bag if the birds are really going well and as such, this shoot really feels like a family run syndicate.

Hospitality

We rate our hospitality as some of the best on offer so no one ever leaves the farm feeling hungry nor thirsty.

Topography

The birds are presented from cover crops and woods in and around the rolling Chiltern Hills

About the hosts

We are relaxed and informal hosts but strive for perfection in every way possible.

Please note - all prices are subject to VAT at the standard rate

This was the first time I’ve shot here and took a gamble.i couldn’t fault the company of the guns or the hosts.we did 5 drives which one of those drives were trial and error which didn’t go to play due to the lack of birds.but it has so much potential to be a great drive if they can draw the birds there next season.but I wasn’t really worried about that bec sometimes it goes and others it doesn’t. I would return with same guns because they were great company.

This is not Wales or North Yorkshire, so the birds Painesend show with the topography they've been dealt is just superb! The Keeper and Beaters are all incredibly bright, cheerful and polite. You cannot ask enough of the pickers up, who were quick to collect any runners, but polite enough to leave you and your peg-dog dead birds in plain sight. A day's shooting is as much about the people and the hospitality as it is the pulling of the trigger, and I've not been on any other shoot that rivals the elevenses and lunch that Painesend roll out. Elevenses is a feast of all that Painesend has to offer, the majority of which was either reared or grown on the farm, and even pickled by the owner himself, served from their well-equipped gun bus. Lunch or dinner depending on time of year is taken in their fabulous, recently converted, traditional barn, which offers warmth from a huge open roaring fire, comfort from deep coma inducing sofas and contentment from the large oval dining table where a meal like no other is served whilst conversation and wine flows plentifully. This has been a firm favourite with our roving syndicate for a number of years, and even on mixed days where I’ve filled the odd peg or two, I've always felt incredibly welcome and like I'm amongst friends, always making for a fantastically fun day.
