Deer

Based in South Hertfordshire, just minutes outside of London, we specialise in providing sustainable Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer stalking for individuals and groups of hunters.

The woodlands, forestry blocks and mixed estates under our management provide very scenic countryside with a substantial cull of deer. As well as Hertfordshire, we have opportunities for all UK species across Essex, Central & South East England and throughout the country.

We offer one-on-one guided foot stalking, unaccompanied high seat sessions and week long trips for both individuals and groups of hunters. Occasionally we have syndicate places available.

All deer management and stalking is carried out in-line with industry best practice so, as well as partaking in a guaranteed enjoyable experience, you can be assured that you are contributing to a well organised, sustainable management programme that ensures the health and protection of the deer and the land that they inhabit.

We are Approved Witnesses for DSC 2, can assist with FAC applications and for people without their own FAC we can provide the use of a rifle and all the necessary equipment to get you your first deer. For travelling hunters we take care of all logistics such as accommodation and Visitor Firearm Permits.

Mr. Federico Filippi

I arrived to the shoot hut with the stalking guide, who had kindly given me a lift from Hatfield, just before 1. Another gent was there for his first stalk. Following a quick tea, the four of us (2 guns and 2 guides) did some target practice from a stand and from sticks out in a nearby field. We then split in two pairs and drove to separate locations. My stalking guide Jordan had a lovely Hungarian wirehaired vizsla, who worked with us throughout. We walked through woods for over two hours. In spite of it being a rather windy day, we saw at least a dozen muntjac. One particular black coated huge buck was well within range but he was not what I was after, given its high cost and given the fact that I was after meat not a trophy. Just before 4pm, we spotted a muntjac doe by a ditch in the wood and, I am pleased to say, I took it down very quickly with a clean shot. We hanged it up on a tree, gralloched it and drove back to the hut. There, in the chiller room, Jordan taught me how to skin and butcher the deer. Another cup of tea and by 5 I was back at the station with clean cuts of meat in my bag. Jordan’s charm, enthusiasm and warmth, as well as working with the lovely dog (who ate the heart, kidneys, trimmings and liver) made the day extra special. I highly recommend this place: value for money, great deer population, good facilities, close to London. I will be going back there for sure!
