One of the great jewels in the Herefordshire game shooting crown, Stoke Edith's exclusive 5,000 acre estate has the perfect topography of dramatic valleys and hills for presenting high, testing pheasant and partridge, paired with first-class hospitality, this makes it the most desirable setting for a great British sporting day.
Hospitality
Kick off the day with coffee, tea and bacon rolls upon arrival and whilst pegs are being drawn in the shoot room. Delicious canapés and a plentiful selection of drinks including Champagne, Gins and premium drinks are served by our wonderful host between every drive. Back at the private shoot dining room, a locally sourced, seasonal traditional lunch with an indulgent homemade pudding accompanied by wine and drinks is the perfect way to sit and take time to share stories with plenty of debate over the best shots, near misses and memorable moments from every drive.
Birds
Stoke Edith shoot occupies five thousand acres. It has a perfect topography with well managed woodlands and clear felling which provides an incredible shooting landscape. Cover crops placed in perfect places on the hill tops show good, high testing birds with much more potential for some really high ones.
Topography
Stoke Edith has the perfect topography with expansive woodlands, rolling hills and breathtaking vistas. This combination of rolling farmland, mature woodland, hidden valleys and well-established cover crops create a diversity of drives. The estate's natural contours allow birds to show exceptionally well from the open, very high hill sides which have been planted to provide enough cover to show a plentiful supply of very high-quality birds.
Conservation Efforts
Every effort is made to conserve the natural landscape at Ragley. From predator control, to woodland management, the estate is a haven for fauna and flora.
About the hosts
Shoot days are hosted by Matt Newell from Newell Sporting and in partnership with Cambrian Sporting, he brings over 30 years of experience in gamekeeping and shoot management. Matt is involved in every aspect, from growing the cover crops to hatching through to releasing the birds, planning the drives and hosting guests on the day. Meticulous in his approach, he constantly monitors conditions, bird behaviour and the estate. Guests are welcomed as friends and the atmosphere is relaxed and unapologetically traditional. The focus is on quality shooting, genuine hospitality and camaraderie. This approach has created a loyal following of returning Guns who value the sport, warm welcome and attention to detail synonymous with a day hosted by Matt and the team.
