'The shoot itself was at How Caple Court, set in a truly beautiful bit of country on the river Wye, with a manor house dating back to the Doomsday book and lived in by the present family for three generations.  It was a very relaxed and most enjoyable day, made all the more so by walking between drives and the inevitable banter between the guns.
The bag for the day was plentiful, without being excessive, as you will see from the accompanying photo which was rather charmingly and efficiently arranged by the keeper and his team, and a copy of which given to each gun with the shoot card as we left.  For my part this was not only one of the most enjoyable days of the season, but also when I came to pay my share of the bill, one of the best value'.
