The West Harting Down shoot is situated on the South Downs, some 10 minutes from Petersfield and easy access from the A3. It is mainly a woodland shoot and as such is full of wildlife including lots of deer (fallow, roe and muntjac), buzzards, red kites, owls, many woodcock from November onwards, not to mention the occasional wild boar!!
A number of driven days are run throughout the season by Mark Boulton, the shoot captain, who is ably assisted by an excellent team of beaters and pickers up. Driven days are focused around the central woodland valley and the Grassy Bank, a drive which produces some very high birds to test even the very best shots!!
Walked up days are a more casual affair and are catered according to the requirements of the visiting guns, mainly their ability and willingness to walk reasonable distances over quite testing terrain. Woodcock are a welcome addition to the bag (if you can hit them!) later in the season.
Costs are fixed and include breakfast and tips. Walked up days are charged at £1000 for a team of 4/5 guns. Single guns can be accommodated too. Driven days cost £700 per gun for one-off days.
Syndicate guns are available for the 2015/2016 season. Full guns will shoot a minimum of 6No. days, mainly Saturdays on roughly a fortnightly basis, the first day being 3rd October and finishing with the last day on 28th December 2015. Syndicate guns are expected to turn up and help out on the beaters day (eg beating, picking up or mentoring a novice) on Saturday 16th January 2016.
The cost of a full gun is £2800 for the season (1200No. pheasants and 100 partridges are put down annually) and includes year round pigeon shooting in the FC woodland.
Please contact Mark Boulton at your earliest convenience should you wish to discuss any of the above in more detail.

Mr. Martin Barratt
I took a day on this shoot before being subsequently being invited to join as a full gun and it was one of the most enjoyable days shooting I have had. The weather was challenging but the team (and dogs) worked tirelessly to provide a great day's sport and some superb birds shown. The shoot is friendly, well-organised and the guns were very welcoming, great company and excellent shots. Shoot Captain Mark Boulton made sure everyone had some good shooting and his wife provided a very satisfying lunch for all. Great day, great team, great birds, great shoot.

Great friendly shoot. The birds can be challenging if you are novice. Good value for a small shoot. Lunch and tips are included in the price. The pickers and beaters are some of the best I have encountered with 97% of the birds picked.

Thoroughly enjojyed a good days excercise and walked up shooting in a lovely countryside setting. Mark, Steve and their dogs made it an occasion to remember. Thank you very much. David Hughes

My friend Mark and I had a wonderful 'driven day' least week with Mark Boulton at West Harting. The day was beyond both our expectations and would like to say the whole event was very well organized. We were extremely impressed with the beating line, especially being a Thursday, what a good turnout. Thoroughly enjoyed the company and only wish we could go more often. A day we shall remember for a long time to come. G.J.L.

Had a return trip with Mark and his team and shot the farmland and the forest and once again enjoyed some excellent shooting and some great laughs. The relaxed atmosphere and banter makes for a really great day in some lovely countryside. Thanks again to Mark, Steve and Liz for a great day.
