Centred around the idyllic village of Tichborne, this is a classic Downland shoot offering 150 to 250 bird days for partridge and pheasant over a mix of vallies , wooded hills and quiet water meadows.
From warm sunny Septembers in the stubble to chilly but challenging Januarys the shoot offers a remarkable mix of sport across 1500 picturesque acres of the Upper Itchen valley... we even have a snipe drive for those seeking the ultimate target
The excellent and inimitable Tichborne Arms provides the base to meet and enjoy a delicious lunch, with an 11's of hot soup, sloe gin and pies offered in the field.
We are very much a non-commercial, members led shoot promoting a well organised but informal approach to the sport.
Whilst most days are taken by returning regulars, we welcome new faces interested in taking any available days or wishing to be notified of future availability
Hospitality
We aim for our catering to be both simple and delicious, from tea/coffee in the pub on arrival, to a thoughtful elevenses of soup, warm sausage rolls and tasty accompaniments. The Tichborne Arms, a classic, old school country pub, in the heart of the village (and the shoot) serves a very high quality home cooked pie and cheese as a shoot staple but can offer many options from the menu if desired.
On hot autumn days you can lunch in the garden and enjoy the sounds of nature across the water meadows, come winter, a table near the old bar and a roaring fire are there to welcome you.
Topography
The topography is classic downland as might be expected in the National Park. The hills are capped with old woods, planted for sport, and the arable land has been improved with well placed small covers to ensure better presentation.
It is obvious at a glance that the estate has been providing sport for well over a century, with mature, established drives offering some excellent and challenging pegs.
About the hosts
The host on the day could be one of three people. All are experienced in hosting shooting and know the ground well. While they are friendly and sociable and aim to add to the enjoyment of the day, they are health & safety aware and will keep the day moving along.

Wonderful setting for this friendly shoot in the heart of Tichborne. There is a fantastic, and very sporting new partridge drive which was a great addition while The Lynch capped off an enjoyable day. All the guns were kept busy and the spacing and flurries made for no weak drives. The Tichborne Arms provided a great shoot lunch afterwards. Charming shoot and would recommend.

A really fantastic shoot around the estate and village. The partridges were particularly good and one of the drives offers the chance of some snipe. A nice relaxed atmosphere and some really superb drives.

Without doubt one of my favourite shoots which I go back to year after year, set in one of Hampshire's most picturesque villages and surrounding countrysides, a stunning setting, and a fantastic thatched local pub to cap it all off.
