The Grange Estate is located in the Candover and Upper Itchen valleys and comprises historic parkland, watermeadows and rolling chalk downland. Its southern edge is in the newly created South Downs National Park. Many of the drives are in the park of the Grade 1 listed house, The Grange, which is maintained by English Heritage and is the principal venue for Grange Park Opera. Others are set in chalkstream valleys of great conservation importance and which contain a wide variety of flora and fauna in addition to the quarry species.

The ground has an interesting sporting pedigree since the Grange was the home of the 5th Lord Ashburton who was a noted Edwardian shot and contemporary of Lords Ripon and Walsingham.
Over the last few decades the shoot has been run as a private family affair but we have recently started to let a few days.

The objective is to produce good and varied days shooting with about 200 well presented birds in attractive and varied settings. The emphasis is predominantly on pheasants, though we do get a few 'refugee' partridges from our neighbours and our 'various' can include duck, geese, woodcock, jay, magpie and pigeon.

Days are generally hosted by Mark Baring, a member of the owning family.

Second visit to the estate and another hugely enjoyable day. Mark Baring a super host and keepers team presented some lovely birds and plenty of them. I would recommend without hesitation and look forward to a return visit.
