Pheasant
Partridge

Game shooting has been a Preshaw tradition for centuries. Pheasant and partridge are driven from mature woodland and open downland across undulating valleys. Typically, 200-bird days for 8 guns.

Preshaw is Hampshire's largest contiguous block of land uncrossed by public roads. Situated high up in the South Downs National Park with long-distance views of surrounding country and to the far side of the Isle of Wight. The Estate retains a rare sense of tranquility and beauty with an expanse of un-spoilt land.

Primarily run as a Syndicate for regular guns with a few pegs available to visiting guns interested in joining the Syndicate.

Topography

Laid out for shooting over a century ago, Preshaw Estate's 1300 acres is conceptually split into two beats. Lomer Farm's eastern side sees open downland, copses and hedgerows. A landscape steeped in history where one drive will have you standing within the site of a deserted medieval village as birds are flushed from ancient woodlands. Preshaw Park to the west is more formal. Characterised by historic and contemporary parkland, majestic stands of beech woodland and hidden valleys. A third of the Estate is woodland with birds produced from a selection of over 20 drives.

Conservation Efforts

A significant proportion of Preshaw Estate is devoted to long-term conservation projects including 40 acres of seed mix plots providing winter feed for wild birds; 36 kilometres of floristic field margins and 15 kilometres of native hedgerows. This makes the Estate a haven for wildlife including several red listed species.
