Pheasant

The North Waltham Shoot is situated south of basingstoke and east of winchester, approx 10 mins from junc 7 M3, and with being only one hour away from central london it is idealy situated for a day out in the rolling hampshire countryside, shooting quality pheasant and partridges with excelent food and wine, and then to return home within good time.

Our shoot is set in over 200 acres of mixed arrable land

Earley season is spent driving the cover crops for partridge

Once we have drawn pegs we will head of to start the first drive, the drives will always be pegged and we line from right to left moving up 3 on 8 guns and 2 on 9 guns.

We do prefer to shoot through and take lunch at the end of the day, as we have found by past experience that lunch's in the middle of the day can run over and take up valuable shooting time, but with that said  we will accomodate you if you prefer to stop midway.

With the day based on the former we will normally shoot 3 drives and then stop for a substansial 11's which will include hot soup, sausages, pork pies, cakes, soft drinks, water, sloe gyn etc, after this we will normally shoot another two or three drives depending on bag etc.

On arrival back at the shoot the bag will be counted, and the game keeper will arrive with a brace of either partridge / pheasant or if you were lucky enough to shoot? a brace of woodcock.

Mr Dick Sadler

Shot on the 2nd Nov, 2012. Excellent day with Alec and his enthusiastic team of Pickers up and friendly beaters where I was made to feel very welcome. A lot of good birds shown throughout the day both partridge and pheasant and I can thoroughly recommend this Shoot. Dick Sadler.

We shot here in mid September and had a wonderful day. The shoot owner and his wife couldn't have been more helpful before, during & after the shoot. They had a great team of beaters & pickers up which showed some great partridge despite it being early in the season. Estate was immaculate and the 4 drives we did were super, presenting some challenging partridge. I suspect that later in the season with a little more wind the drives will produce some really challenging birds!
