The island of Anglesey is special, as is the shooting and hospitality at Presaddfed, you’ll not be disappointed!

Hospitality

The hospitality at Presaddfed lacks for nothing. A full English breakfast in the house is followed by elevenses out in the field and then back to the house for a full sit down lunch. For guests staying over, dinner is served usually around 8pm. All food is superbly prepared by our host and owner of the estate, Mark. All drinks are included.

Birds

The birds are driven from a mixture of game crops and woodland and present very well. They are challenging birds that are mostly in range! The duck drive off the main lake is something to behold with most of the guns positioned on pontoons out in the middle of the 100 acre lake. With a bit of wind these birds will test any shooter!

Topography

The ground is mostly flat and undulating, with some steeper areas that are mostly wooded. The whole estate is a mosaic of fields, woodlands, ponds, lakes, water meadows and bog. The rich variety of habitat lends itself to a very diverse wildlife population on the estate, in particular good numbers of snipe and woodcock later in the season.

Conservation Efforts

The shoot has been managed by the same family for a very long time and routinely undertakes standard conservation operations such as ride management, hedge laying, ditch maintenance, copping and the creation of butterfly glades.

About the hosts

The shoot is both formal and laid back at the same time, with the emphasis on everyone having an enjoyable time. Paul, the keeper of some 20 years, organises the guns and is usually assisted by Patrick, who also helps Mark in the house with much of the hosting. It is a well oiled machine that runs very smoothly.

Travel information

The best way to get to the estate is to drive as it is some 2-3 hours drive from the M6 and both Manchester and Birmingham airports.

Final thoughts

The shoot has been running in much the same format for a very long time and is particularly well known for its woodcock and snipe shooting. Several years ago it was featured in the Shooting Times.
