Exceptional driven shooting across the wild valleys and mountains of North Wales, brought together with world-class hospitality and dining at Palé Hall

Hospitality

Hospitality is at the heart of every day at Palé Hall Sporting, with the food and experience given the same attention as the shooting itself. The day begins with breakfast at our Shoot Lodge before heading into the valleys and mountains of North Wales. Elevenses are served in the field, with seasonal dishes and warming drinks, followed by a relaxed lunch back at the lodge, cooked over charcoal and open fire. Menus are created by Luke Selby and the Palé Hall chefs, celebrating exceptional Welsh produce, game and ingredients from trusted local farmers and producers. Drinks are included throughout the day, from morning refreshments to Champagne and carefully selected wines — generous Welsh hospitality from first drive to last.

Birds

Guns can expect challenging, beautifully presented birds shaped by the dramatic terrain of North Wales. Our drives make full use of steep wooded valleys, deep banks and open mountain ground, allowing us to show strong, high pheasants that test even experienced guns. Partridge are presented fast and naturally across the contours of the landscape, creating exciting shooting throughout the day. Every drive has its own character, from towering birds over deep valleys to quick, testing partridge across more open ground. The emphasis is always on quality rather than simply numbers — sporting birds, spectacular scenery and memorable drives that make the very most of this exceptional Welsh landscape.

Topography

Our shooting takes place across some of the most dramatic terrain in North Wales, where steep wooded valleys, open hillsides and deep natural banks create an exceptional sporting landscape. Set between the Berwyn and Cambrian Mountains, the ground rises and falls dramatically, with ancient woodland, rivers and open country providing a constantly changing backdrop. The natural contours allow us to present birds from considerable height and at a variety of angles, with each drive offering a completely different challenge. It is wild, beautiful and unmistakably Welsh — a landscape that creates both spectacular shooting and a genuine sense of place.

About the hosts

Your day will be hosted by Robert Jones and James Broadbent, whose experience, knowledge of the ground and passion for driven shooting are at the heart of Palé Hall Sporting. Together with Luke Selby and the Palé Hall team, they create a day that is professionally run but deliberately relaxed — warm, personal and never overly formal. From welcoming guns in the morning to guiding the team between drives and sharing stories over elevenses and lunch, the emphasis is on great sport, exceptional hospitality and good company. Guests should feel completely looked after throughout the day, while still enjoying the easy-going atmosphere of a great day in the Welsh countryside.
