Pheasant
Partridge

We have run very successful Partridge and Pheasant days here at Painswick Manor Shoot for 50 years. We have some amazing valleys with tall hedges and steep banks in which shows some very testing birds for all abilities. High driven Pheasant and Partridge from all angles, speeds and heights. We shoot eight to ten pegs as a norm. We shoot four or five drives a day depending on bag size and guns ability. Your shoot captain Roger Pusey will look after you for the day and lead you to each drive. You will ideally need a four wheel drive vehicle but not essential as we can provide transportation. You are only permitted to use fibre wad cartridges on the day. Pippa Warner provides all the sumptuous food and beverages through the day including delicious bacon rolls on arrival a sit down lunch and tea and cakes at the end of the day. If you are looking to shoot in the beautiful Cotswold countryside at wonderfully presented Partridge and pheasant for a very reasonable price, Painswick Manor will not disappoint.

Topography

Valleys' with tall mature hedge lines rolling over Steep banks . The main area is an eight hundred acre basin that lends itself to holding and presenting fabulous partridges. The other half of the estate runs over the escarpment looking down towards the Seven Vale. The shoot lies within an area of outstanding natural beauty on the western edge of the Cotswolds.

Conservation Efforts

We have had English partridge breeding here over the last few years and have creates flower and grass margins around the estate. The estate is home to a rare breed of Butterfly that survives on some of our common land. The estate has a hedge planting scheme ongoing to replace lost hedges from the seventies when stubble burning got out of control. We are always looking to improve habitats around all areas of the estate.

Mr. Alistair Willis

I had the opportunity to shoot here last autumn 2026 and can say it was one of the friendliest shoots I have been on in many years, a cosy feeling and very informal.. Run promptly and smoothly by the shoot captain we drove in our own vehicles to each drive, dogs welcome, and my goodness did those birds fly, I had my best day ever, and witnessed some amazing birds, and Tim the owner, runs the lines admirably, the birds flew perfectly and he worked the drives with skill, we easily reached the bag and a bit more! Hard working team delivering passionate high quality shooting.. If you want to test your skill on fast partridge or high pheasant, try here.. A great farm kitchen cooked meal before we all headed off at 3pm, no time wasted for all of us driving distance. I have already committed to more days this year.. Loved it..
