Towthorpe Manor

Hospitality is an important part of every day at Towthorpe Manor. Guests are welcomed from 9am with fresh coffee and bacon sandwiches before heading out for the first drive at around 10am. Lunch is served in our shoot lodge, with drinks and refreshments provided throughout the day. After the final drive, we return to the lodge for afternoon tea and cakes. All food and drinks are included, and we pride ourselves on providing warm, relaxed Yorkshire hospitality from arrival to departure.

The natural folds, deep dales and rolling ground of the Yorkshire Wolds allow us to present exceptional sporting birds. Guns can expect fast, challenging partridge and pheasant shown from a variety of drives, with the terrain creating impressive height and testing angles. Each drive has its own character, giving a varied and memorable day for guns of all abilities.

Towthorpe Manor sits in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, across approximately 1,200 acres of spectacular rolling countryside. Deep chalk dales, sweeping valleys, woodland and undulating farmland create a naturally dramatic landscape, allowing birds to be presented over varied and challenging terrain. On a clear day, the elevated ground offers far-reaching views across East Yorkshire towards Hull and the Humber Bridge.

Conservation and wildlife management are an important part of the way Towthorpe Manor is farmed. Across the estate we manage game-cover crops, wild-bird seed areas, grass and pollen-and-nectar margins, hedgerows, woodland and ponds to provide food and habitat throughout the year. Supplementary winter feeding and responsible predator control further support our game and wider farmland wildlife. Our farming, conservation and shoot management work together to create a diverse environment that benefits a wide range of birds, insects and other wildlife across the estate.

Towthorpe Manor is very much a family-run shoot, with Philip, Verity, Francis and Eve involved in welcoming and looking after our guests throughout the day. Matt is our Shoot Captain and Hannah our Gamekeeper, working alongside their families and our experienced shoot team to make every day run smoothly. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and personal, with the whole team taking great pride in giving our guests a memorable day both in the field and back at the lodge.

Towthorpe Manor has been home to the Megginson family for generations and remains very much a working family farm. The shoot has developed naturally around the farm and the remarkable landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, making use of its deep dales, rolling farmland and established woodland. We take great pride in combining traditional driven shooting with modern farming and conservation, while keeping the atmosphere personal, friendly and unmistakably Yorkshire.
