A true Yorkshire style day out with excellent hospitality and even better value for money.

Hospitality

We meet for a coffee around 9am, head off about 9:30, break for elevenses after a couple of drives, then carry on for a couple more before finishing up with a buffet lunch. Hot and cold drinks are on hand all day - and we don’t let anyone go thirsty. Breakfast can also be provided if desired by the team. All of our food is provided by our local butchers and delicatessian and is served in the field or shoot hut, depending on the drives & weather.

Birds

A mixed show of birds depending on the drives (and the wind!) something to keep most guns on their toes.

Topography

Risby Estate is set across 15,500 acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We’ve got a bit of everything… valleys, rolling land, woods, banks, covers - plenty to keep things interesting.

Conservation Efforts

A lot of the cover crops are part of SFI schemes giving a varied landscape across the estate.

About the hosts

The hosts looking after the guns whilst in the field will be Steve & Anna. They will ensure your safety and enjoyment whilst keeping your glasses topped up and the food circulating. We try and maintain a relaxed and fun atmosphere for everyone's enjoyment. Terry will be on hand throughout the day to check in.

Travel information

Risby Estate is located in an easy to find part of East Yorkshire just outside Beverley. We are well linked to major road networks, railways and airports.

By Road 8 miles from M62 (15 minutes) which provides links to all major routes across the country.

Train Station 6 miles to Brough train station with regular national links to London, York, Leeds, Scotland and more.

Nearest Airports 20 miles from Humberside Airport (around 25 -30 minutes) 100 miles from Manchester Airport (around 1.5 - 2 hours)

Final thoughts

Risby was once home to the largest deer park in Yorkshire. The estate was owned by the Ellerker family from 14th - 18th centuries and they once entertained Henry VIII. Sadly the Manor House was destroyed not once but twice by fires and was not rebuilt.

Terry has ran the shoot at Risby for over 50 years.
