Pheasant

Our shoot is mainly flat, our day starts nine for nine thirty and consists of six to eight drives mainly through willow biomass which is easy walking. our dinning facilities are very limited, bordering on none existent but its dry to eat. Most of our guns are old but can give younger guns a run for there money. So we always have a good day out

Rain ..Rain Had it all day none stop..The birds were hard to flush and they prefered to walk instead due to the rain no doubt we did however shoot some and a pigeon (looked well fed and well kept) I saw 4 deer being flushed out they looked good and ran fast and strong ..There were 2 new guests today to make up the numbers and were made welcome .The willows were not too bad today as some were cut down last year so young.... But wet walking though due to the rain but cant help that ..(water company glad)....Soaking wet I was though ..but enjoyed the day as I always do listening to the members GOOD banter in the shoot trailer and Im already looking forward to the next shoot day...Hopefully its sunny AND warm.

Another season at Newsholme (my 8th season here) and the shoot was well organised throuout the day We had 5 drives each team (usually we have 4) and a stop for our own packed lunch/drink etc Must say that the planted set aside cover from 2 years ago a mixture of tree and tall cover was well grown.and held birds till they were flushed out. toward the guns (some were seen walking out) ...Other drives were mostly easy through the willow biomass some had been cut and grown again..Inside the shoot trailer banter was friendly and enjoyable to hear and the dogs were eager to get out and do their work A plesent sight to watch I have said before how does Robin and his team keep it all going and giving it100% all day..Basic facilities yes.. BUT the shooting is first class if you can hit em! for the price. you cant beat Newsholme ...My brother missed the day but he got a brace given ... of well fed pheasant roll on the next shoot day.Im ready now..

Well another season (20/21) is now over sadly ,,,, Some new drives were added. Birds flew well and fast on each drive..The willows were as ever easy to walk through. Deer were bounding all over the place as they have been previous seasons. Banter amongst the guns/Beaters ranged from (Victorian gamekeeper man-traps and the use of fruit raisons. Myself and brother will be back next year for another great season.. Well done.. Now sadly its back to the woodpigeon bashing...and clays
