Geese

This stunning estate offers abundant wildfowling at the idyllic 4 acre lake situated on the High Weald. Our lake offers shooting from a number of locations on its perimeter, offering guns the opportunity to challenge themselves against teal, widgeon, duck, Canada and Greylag goose.

The late evening flights are exquisite, as the birds come in over the high trees and slopes leading down to our lake. This is wildfowling at it's finest.

Hospitality

Guests will be served coffee and teas before the shoot. Drinks and light nibbles after the shoot. There are two good pubs nearby serving Harvey's ales and good food should guests want to continue the evening or take accomodmation.

Topography

What truly sets Barelands apart is the seamless transition of the Woodlands giving way to meadows, and meadows leading back to stunning wooded glens. This dynamic interplay of terrain keeps the scenery fresh and captivating at every turn while guests stalk through the Estate. Teams shooting on the lake can enjoy game dropping in from great hight over the adjacent woodland making for exciting and challenging shooting.

About the hosts

The Estate host is an accomplished gamekeeper and conservationist, and working with the estate owners, is building an enviable shooting environment for stalking and wildfowling. The natural abundance of wildfowl and deer in the area, and the topography of the sloped woodland to the North of the lake make for an exciting venue.

Nick and the team were very welcoming, the shooting was good sport and all the guns had some shooting. The ducks and geese coming in at last light was spectacular and it was great to go back to the Land Rover bar for a good chat and a well deserved pint plus a look back on the days shooting. Can’t wait to go back and all the other guns feel the same. 👍👍

Had a great time at Barelands Farm shooting the evening flight. Was warmly welcomed by Nick and the other guys who worked on the estate. The pre shoot briefing was short and informative and everyone was clear on what the expectation of the evening was. Firstly we were placed at the end of the pond, where Nick and the rest of the fellas pushed over the ducks and geese that were on the pond. This was quite a spectacle as there was lots of differing quarry that flew very well. After this we were then placed in hides where we waited for the the birds to come back for the night. Nick took the time to then come and talk to us about our shooting to date and give us a bit more information on what they do at Barelands. After about 45 minutes the duck and geese then started to come back and we were then placed on the bank of the pond where we had shooting for probably another hour of some really good quality birds. After this we then went back to the farm for drinks where we got to sample some of the beer that they brew. Me and the rest of the team all agree that this was a great evening, Nick’s a great host, and the other guys are really helpful and friendly and was a pleasure to spend time with them.

We had a very enjoyable flight, Nick and two of his staff were very friendly and professional. Nick welcomed us with a safety talk in the land Rover bar with tea/coffee if we wanted it, explained the format of the evening flight. We shot duck and geese the only downside to the flight was the weather which was very still and overcast but this didn’t deter us and we had a great experience and it won’t deter us from booking again.

I've enjoyed some flighting here on a couple of occasions. The location is stunning, and the quality of sport is first rate. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to shoot some challenging Teal. All guns were able to get some sport and the thrill when the Geese start dropping in is fabulous. The gamekeeper Nick really adds value to the shooting, with a huge amount of local knowledge of the the ground and flightlines. He ensured all the guns were well looked after, was very professional, providing warm hospitality and a thoroughly enjoyable time. I look forward to returning next season.
