WELCOME TO KENCARRIG SHOOT
Kencarrig shoot and guest house is run by James Kennedy and his partner Margret. James having over 35 years in the shooting field looks after the shooting side of things while Margret looks after the hospitality side. The accomadation is just 5 minutes away from the Solway coast which makes it very convinient for the early morning goose flights on the foreshore. The shoot is about 40 minutes away on the BUCCLEUCH estate, with the land surrounding the beautiful DRUMLANRIG CASTLE,with a terrain of lowland, roaming hills and valleys. On which we have to offer, mini driven, walk up and rough days.
A day at the kencarrig starts with an early rise which consists of a morning on the foreshore hoping to get them elusive geese, then when the noise rumbling from your belly is too much, you will go back the 5 minute drive to your accommodation where you will be served a breakfast that you will not be disappointed in. When you are ready for road after your feed, you will be brought to the shooting estate. You will have 2-3 drives in the first half of HIGH flying, JAW DROPPING pheasants. There will also be the little rockets that are red legged partridge and crafty woodcock. Then you will be ready for your lunch. After lunch you will have further drives with a bit of walk up (not too much). Then you will be brought for a duck flight where you might even get a crack at some geese. After your day on the shoot, you will be treated to a fantastic dinner which again will not leave you disappointed.
After dinner The local is only 5 minutes in the road if you require to quench that thirst.
We offer 2 day and 3 day packages and some let days.
Minimum amount of guns on the shoot is 6 but individual guns are welcome to join other guns to make up parties of 6.
A 2 day package consists of 3 nights B&B, 2 evening meals, 2 mornings on the foreshore(geese). 2 mini driven, walk up 30 bird days, evening duck flight, packed lunch included. the price is £500 per gun.
The 3 day package is the same as above just add 1 to everything bar ducks £700.
Goose decoying extra when availible.
Walk up days over pointers availble from end of november until end of season.

James & his team were excellent. The shooting was first class, quality driven high pheasants and excellent partridge. The duck shooting was brilliant & the Teal pond is always testing even for the best shots. Great accommodation and plenty of lovely food, you will never go hungry... I managed to put on 1/2 a stone and we were only there for 3 days! The foreshore is also a must, watching the Geese lift off the sands is sight to behold. Overall a great experience.

I have been going to Kencarrig for the past 5 years and I have not been disappointed with the shooting or the hospitality, the food received is of the highest standard and they are to be commended for such a high standard of quality. The shooting side of it is set in great countryside with high flying pheasant and fast partridge.
