Set out in beautiful countryside in the South West of Scotland we offer an exciting days shooting to those who are looking for a fun day. Stair Estates are located at the west end of Dumfries and Galloway, and near the sea, with rising ground to provide an interesting variety of drives. Our drives are from both Broadleaf, and Conifer woodlands, and different types of terrain. We can offer a mix of small driven days, rough days or driven days up to 250 head. Deer stalking for Red and Roe deer can also be arranged in lowland conditions. Earlier in the season, from July to October we can also offer fishing on one of the most exciting spate rivers in Galloway. It is always fun to plan a different day, and if you would like an assortment of sport, mixed days can easily be planned with stalking, fishing, and possibly duck flighting or stalking again in the evening. We are always keen to create an exciting and different day!
One of our most popular double days, is a small driven day trying to get the most variety, followed by a full driven day. We still have dates available for some Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays in November, December and possibly January, however other days are also available, and if your preferred day is not shown, please ask.
The Estate and shooting is privately owned and managed, and your day will normally be hosted by the owner. Lunch and tea is included in most days, and will either be in the heated and furnished stable carriage house, or at a suitable location for the day. While an overnight stay may be available in the house, there are also excellent hotels within 15 miles.
To get to us fly to Glasgow or Prestwick Airports, and to drive we are 2 hours from the M6 at Carlisle, and 2 hours from Glasgow. Alternatively the Ferry from Belfast or Larne terminates within 10 miles.
We also have a small airfield and Helicopters, or light aircraft are welcome. For further information see the Airfield website. This is small airfield, and as such is unlicensed, and unable to receive commercial fixed wing aircraft.
Please note that we only work with full teams of guns. Our days are for teams of up to eight guns, but by arrangement, we can take nine guns. Please contact to confirm. Our mini driven days work best with a maximum of eight guns, but if you prefer a smaller team then the day will be tailored to fit the number of guns. We would prefer you to supply your own transport, however with notice transport can be provided. The airfield is approx 2 miles from the shoot, and called Castle Kennedy Airfield.
Hospitality
We will fit all our shooting to suit our guests, and take particular care on dietary requests. We include Drinks within our day package, however if you want to do something different please ask. We tend not to shoot through, and lunch will be in an appropriate place for the day, and is normally in our furnished and heated carriage house in the Stables.
Birds
We offer a mixture of drives to hopefully suit all guns. Our mini driven days are best suited to those who are fully mobile, however with all shooting we will cater for all needs.

I had a marvellous experience along with a roving syndicate on a mini driven day at loch inch, The laird has to be 1 of the best hosts I have ever experienced, he drove us around in the gun bus and put us all into our pegs, and picked up birds, then we had tea and cake, before departing, a fantastic day out. Jack.
