Pheasant
Partridge

The Wrackleford Shoot is renowned for its quality of pheasants and partridges, set in the unspoilt, deep Dorset chalk valleys with many of the current plantations were planted specifically for shooting at the turn of the last century it offers the most spectacular setting. There are some 16 different drives across the 1700 acre Estate to choose from which allows for a spectacular variety, but as equally important offers choice for time of year, and weather irregularities.

The day is based around our unique Shooting Lodge - its main shoot room can fit a team of guns, their partners and guests comfortably around the elm circular table in front of a large inglenook fireplace. The remote, idyllic lodge creates a most wonderful atmosphere, with much of its lighting either by candle (42 candle chandelier adorns the main room), or gas lighting, out of the shooting season the lodge is available for holidays, parties and special events.

A number of shoot days are sold in addition to family guests, with only a few new opportunities available each season. Most of our teams return year after year, and enjoy the hospitality of the Estate for accommodation before or after the shoot itself. Each room is ensuite and individually furnished to a very high standard, with guests enjoying the Georgian furnished drawing and dining rooms during the evenings. Shoot Bags vary as to the time of year, however mostly are available between 200 - 450 birds per day. Both single and back to back days can be offered with loaders supporting the guns on larger days. The estate provides transport for all the guns in 4*4 vehicles, however guests are welcome to use their own should they wish.

In recent years the shoot has gained an enviable reputation for providing really sporting game shooting combined with relaxed hospitality. This reputation has been recognised in a number of publications including The Field - 'Ultimate object of desire', The Shooting Gazette 'Top 20 Shoot in the UK' and Brian Martin's 'The Great Shoots' amongst others.

Beautiful ground, well managed. A slightly unusual peg numbering format but highly effective. A fantastic day despite truly challenging conditions. Not really for the beginner but the experienced gun will have a lovely time. The birds are challenging but not silly.
