With access to two of the finest shooting estates that Dorset has to offer, Tarrant Sporting is able to provide superb , sporting driven days with first class hospitality and unrivalled onsite accommodation. Pheasants and partridges are shown over some of the county’s finest and most well known drives presenting challenging, high bird shooting for the most experienced guns whilst also catering for the occasional shot and even the supervised novice. Back to back days of up to 500 birds per day can be comfortably accomplished.
Hospitality
Days can be hosted from the village pub where teams often stay and take breakfast then return for the end of day meal. We have access to both the main house for accommodation and a designated farmhouse that sleeps up to 11 guests. A package to include a truly memorable stay with wonderful food and wine can be structured to give teams a truly memorable English shooting break .
Topography
Classic Dorset high bird terrain with wide open valleys, hidden coombes and some traditional woodland and parkland settings. The ground can show birds as good as any found further into the West Country.
Conservation Efforts
With the setting being found within an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the ground is maintained to the highest standard with huge areas designated to wildlife habitat. The abundance of ground nesting birds, rare butterflies and insects are a testament to both the farming and forestry operations in place here.
About the hosts
The Tarrant Sporting team is led by William Nobles who has been running shoots and hosting days for over 20 years. All shoot days are hosted by William who is often assisted by his father John. Days are run in a relaxed yet efficient style where nothing is too much trouble and teams are kept fed , watered and entertained from start to close. The Head Gamekeeper is Mr Josh Hunt who captains a highly effective team of keepers and beaters. All bookings and administrative work are dealt with by Amanda.

I've shot with Tarrant a number of times over the past few years and highly recommend them. William has been an excellent host on every occasion and made every day thoroughly enjoyable. Across each location the welcome, elevenses, all catering etc has been very good. Given the location of the shoots, the birds area always going to be of a great quality. What Graeme does fantastically well is manage to stagger the birds throughout a drive, sending them in a steady stream rather than one big flush.

Shot 3 days there last season, fantastic part of Dorset next to the Cerne Giant. William is the perfect host supported by a highly efficient and professional team, drives to suit all standards of guns. Will be returning this season for 4 days, one of which will be at Minterne, with it’s beautiful house and accommodation.
