Pulham Shoot is a friendly, non-profit syndicate shoot based in North Dorset founded over 40 years ago.
An ideal shoot for guns of any ability, we offer a mixed bag of pheasant, duck and partridge. The 1000+ acre land at Pulham is of mixed terrain with woodland, game strips, river and four duck ponds, so there is always a good deal of variety throughout the day.
130 bird days, 10 guns per day. Shoots are held on Saturdays, with the occasional Friday available.
We take pride in providing an enjoyable day for all, with plenty of great hospitality throughout and some unique features. The guns are transported on our beloved gun bus 'Mora', a lovingly restored Landrover 101 with enormous tyres - perfect for all weather conditions.
Guns are welcome to bring and work their own dogs.
SINGLE PEG: £680.00

Hospitality
Hospitality is carried in our own shoot room, formerly a stable on the farm in years gone by. Retaining much of its former character, it has a much welcome woodburner for the colder days. It is the heart & soul of Pulham Shoot and where the banter starts. We start the day with a full English cooked breakfast and a chance to meet your fellow guns. This is followed by a briefing. We stop mid-morning for drinks and a snack, and then again for lunch (bring your own sandwiches, we will provide drinks). The day finishes again back in the Shoot room for drinks and end of day debriefing (and may be the odd fine!!!)
Birds
We are able through experience to show a good mixture of birds which means the Shoot suits all abilities.
Topography
Although the ground is fairly flat, we do manage to present some very good birds. Using the wind, coupled with many years of knowledge & experience of getting the most from our topography, we achieve some good shooting.
Conservation Efforts
We have wild flower meadows, wild bird game strips and large overgrown hedges which support wild broods of pheasant & partridges as well as those we release. We actively release Grey Partridge to supplement the wild stock. Guns find these extremely difficult to shoot compared to the Redleg partridges. Due to our conservation efforts we are now starting to see a resurgence in the number of hares at Pulham, typical of the Blackmore Vale area.
About the hosts
Graham, the shoot captain, has run Pulham Shoot from his farm for over 35 years. The team of Beaters have all been with the Shoot for a number of years, they know their roles and work very well as a team, with plenty of banter along the way. (They join the guns over lunch and at the end of the day). The Shoot is managed by a committee comprising a number of the shoot members. It is very much a fun and friendly shoot where a group of like-minded people enjoy a great day’s shooting in lovely Dorset countryside with a lot of banter and laughs along the way – Come and join us, we will make you welcome.
Travel information
For anyone requiring a hotel near the Shoot, the Plumber Manor Country House Hotel is highly recommended.
Final thoughts
Plumber Manor a rather special Country House hotel is a few miles from the shoot and a great location to stay if you are travelling to join us. Alternatively there are a number of decent local country pubs including: The Fox Inn, Ansty The Crown, Marnhull
