Your day begins with a warm welcome in our country shoot lodge, where you'll enjoy a hot cuppa and a breakfast butty before heading out. Elevenses are served in the field between drives, and the day finishes back at the lodge with a hearty meal and a relaxed debrief among friends. Our aim is to create a friendly, informal atmosphere where guests feel looked after from start to finish.

Bordered by the winding River Torridge, Watergate boasts a naturally beautiful and diverse landscape. The stunning topography — a mix of rolling hills, steep wooded valleys, and well-placed game covers — creates the perfect setting for presenting Devon pheasants and partridges to memorable effect.

Yes, conservation is an important part of what we do at Watergate Shoot. We actively manage woodland, hedgerows, and cover crops to support a healthy and balanced habitat—not just for game birds, but for a wide range of native wildlife. Our work includes predator control, planting for biodiversity, and maintaining natural corridors along the River Torridge, all of which contribute to the long-term health of the land and its ecosystems. We believe a well-run shoot goes hand-in-hand with responsible stewardship of the countryside.

Watergate Sporting is nestled just outside Buckland Brewer, just 4.7 miles south of Bideford. The venue is easily reached by car, with the final approach along country roads.
