A. K. Snipe shooting have been coordinating driven snipe shoots since 2001. Driven snipe are a challenging, exciting and rewarding game bird, with its irregular flight pattern commonly known as jinking it is a great leveller for even the most experienced gun (10 and 12 to 1 not being uncommon). No two snipe shooting seasons are the same, weather greatly influences snipe and how they fly on the day.

Our snipe shoot season starts in the first week of November when snipe migrate in numbers from northern Europe and shoot through to the end of January. We aim to have 8 drives per day, 5 before lunch and 3 after. We cover a wide area (up to 10 mile radius of where we are based) on the culm grass lands near the market town of Holsworthy on the devon and Cornwall border. We shoot across many different areas of farm land amounting to over 12,000 acres.

Parties of 8 to 10 guns are preferred in order to cover the drives, which can range from 4 acres to 50 acres. Singles guns are welcome and will be added to existing parties.

Transport A. K. Snipe shoots operate as a roving safari from drive to drive and routes can be off-road therefore two 4-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended per party.

Cartridges We recommend 7½ to 8 shot cartridges with fibre wads.

Insurance All participating guns must have their own insurance and will be asked to complete a short proof of insurance form on the day.
