An established, family-run shoot with well presented pheasants and partridge on 2000 acres of rolling Derbyshire countryside.
Hospitality
Hospitality on the day is included. Lunch is at an exceptionally appointed shoot room on the estate. Elevenses in the field and tea at the shoot room are also provided.
Birds
Guns can expect a wide range of game birds, suitable for teams of all abilities, including challenging high pheasants and partridges shown over traditional hedgerows.
Topography
The topography of the ground (400’ to 600’) is undulating and is well-suited for showing good birds. Game strips have been established in key areas to complement the woods and to show the partridges.
Conservation Efforts
The estate comprises just over 2,000 acres, split into eight livestock farms.
The woodland area is about 120 acres. Some 15 new plantations have been established in the past 40 years most with amenity and shooting in mind, the most recent to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Late Majesty the Queen. Many of these plantations are now semi-mature and now comprise good shooting coverts. Two former hunt coverts have been purchased in recent years.
About the hosts
Shoot days are hosted by one of the family members, as this is predominantly a private shoot with only a small number of let days.
Shoot days tend to be reasonably formal occasions, but guns are made to feel welcome.
