Cwm Shooting Syndicate was established in 1952 and has shot over the ground, which has been in the ownership of the Rowly-Conwy family since the 14th Century, continuously since then.

The shoot is conveniently situated off the A55 near St Asaph. The shoot covers approximately 3,000 acres (1200 ha) of land situated on the eastern side of the Vale of Clwyd, lying between Rhuddlan on the north west, Dyserth on the north,  Rhuallt to the south and St Asaph to the south west. The land is mainly arable, but includes a number of woods amounting in aggregate to some 130 acres (53 ha) . There is a number of ponds on the land suitable for accommodating duck.

The quarry species is in the main pheasant, but the shoot also puts down a limited number of duck and partridge, and the ground attracts woodcock and there are a couple of snipe bogs. The main drives are a combination of wooded drives on the floor of the Vale and on the eastern border lies the steep wooded side of the Vale, Coed Cwm which provides a number of high bird drives for more challenging shooting.

The shoot is informal in nature and there are limited facilities on site. Lunch is taken at a local pub. Transport around the shoot is in Guns' own vehicles, consolidating use where practical in order to minimise vehicle usage.

A senior member of the Syndicate will run the day, and his opinion on safety and weather related matters is final. Guns are required to have insurance and have available their shot gun certificates.

Non-toxic shot is required if shooting duck. Fibre wad cartridges are required.
