Corwen Forest is a well-established pheasant shoot (with a few partridges) located near Corwen in North Wales. The shoot is set in rolling hills and conifer woodland with many drives having outstanding views over the Dee Valley. Drives such as Moor, the Bank and Big Rock can provide very high birds, and well located cover crops contribute to a day which may test the ability of even the most experienced of shots.

The shoot extends to over 3000 acres and as well as formal driven days there are opportunities for organised walked up days and mini-driven days. Access to most drives is via forestry roads with reasonable walking to pegs. A 4x4 is preferable but, with care, two wheel drive vehicles with good ground clearance can usually cope.

A typical driven day starts with bacon rolls and coffee, during which the guns will receive a safety talk and draw pegs. Moving off at around 09:30AM there will be some three drives before refreshments in the field. A further drive or two in the afternoon should see the bag achieved. The day draws to a close with coffee and biscuits or a meal if preferred.

Hotel accommodation is available in nearby Llangollen and Corwen. Guns with their own dogs are very welcome.

Agree with the comments made by RB. Appeared to be a cobbled together boundary day, certainly wasn't what was expected and certainly wasn't value for money.

We booked this day in March 2019, on the previous Friday to the shoot day we telephoned the pub to confirm our arrival and to check all was ok for breakfast and evening meal, they confirmed they had no record of us coming and the keeper had not booked us in. We rang the keeper who told us the day might have to be cancelled as he had also booked the day before our day for shooting. Something must have been quickly organised as miraculously our day was suddenly back on. We had 5 drives, two guns were pegged next to each other all day were very lucky and had some good shooting, the other 7 guns saw very few birds, myself in particular having only 5 shots for the entire day. On our receipt we were told we would have elevenses in the field ( sausage rolls/pies etc) NONE, hot pot and apple pie and cream for our evening meal ( forgot to order the sweet) All in all the day was badly run with a distinct lack of birds and at £331 for the day very expensive.
