AN EXCELLENT DAY OUT. You are assured of a warm welcome at the stunning Morval Estate. On arrival at the shoot lodge with its roaring log fire, you will be greeted by the very experienced and delightful Amy your hostess for the day. From the outset it sets the tone for a relaxed & enjoyable day over tea & coffee giving you a chance to unwind from your travelling and meet your fellow guests.

Hospitality

Elevenses is taken after the 2nd drive in the “ Elevenses Hut “ in the valley with its open wood fire basket where you can warm up a little while enjoying a drink and delicious snacks freshly prepared by Sarah who creates these delights. You can sit inside or outside depending on the weather. You will be joined here by the excellent picking up team who are more than willing to have a chat if you so wish. We return at the end of the day, usually after 4 drives, to the shoot lodge where a meal will have been prepared for you by our excellent cook Debbie, together with fine wine and /or other beverages. We can cater for special needs or preferences. Above all its your day, let us know and we will tailor the day to your requirements. We pride ourselves on giving you a day to remember.

Birds

We offer exceptional shooting of 200 to 300 bird days where we can challenge you with high birds coming over woods from cover crops, straight, sliding, curling, diving or crossing, however, we pride ourselves on providing birds to suit all abilities. The shoot welcomes guns with well behaved dogs as indeed we welcome well behaved non shooting guests!

Topography

The shoot Set within steep wooded valleys with native deciduous trees and firs, a pond at one end, with a stream flowing the length of the main valley makes for a stunning setting. With hard tracks for ease of transport. You walk, normally a short distance, to your pegs but we are pleased to cater for those who now find time of life makes things a little more difficult or maybe wheelchair bound.

Conservation Efforts

We plant a large area of bird seed mix and it is amazing to see the number of small song birds taking full advantage. We plant cover crops designed to benefit all species. We do occasional shoot walks in the summer. We carry out the usual vermin control which helps particularly ground nesting birds. There is a continuous and expanding programme of planting traditional broadleaved trees on the estate.

Great day out last week - one is made to feel welcome from arrival. Birds were plentiful, high and sporting - pick what you fancy. Well run shoot - Amy, Mark and the team run a very efficient operation, leaving the guns to relax and to enjoy their day. Excellent hospitality throughout, first class shooting, would not hesitate to visit again.

Morval shoot is set in a beautiful Cornish Valley. The typography delivers excellent high birds shooting, which are very well presented, throughout the day. The hosting is very welcoming and generous. A great day's shooting.

The shoot has good organisation and infrastructure without the commercial atmosphere that detracts from the day. The quality of the birds is good. High enough to be exciting and challenging but reachable without using heavy O/U and punchy cartridges. The day ran with the minimum of fuss and noise adding to the day. The good management of the bag avoided any stress around overage. The estate is exceptionally beautiful with great terrain for high birds. Special place.
