The Kingswood Shoot.
The Kingswood shoot is family run by Colin Dyer his fiancee Jayne and son Rob assisted by a friendly team of beaters and pickers up. Positioned just off the A30 outside of Bodmin it is easily accessible by car, train or Newquay airport. A choice of accomodation is available locally to suit all budgets.
Drives are set amongst rolling hillsides consisting of fir, hardwood and strategically placed cover crops. The topography provides the ability to provide sporting birds for the novice and experienced shot alike. A small number of partridges are released with the pheasants providing exceptional sport.
Format for the day.
The guns are met and greeted by Colin and Coffee / Tea is served by Jayne and her helpers in the shoot room, here they will mingle with the beaters and pickers up before attending the safety briefing and selecting pegs.
Following the briefing and peg selection guns will be transported to the drives. All drives are aptly named and include Whiplash, Fast and Furious, Hangover and Biggin hill. Although some of the terrain is steep and hard going every effort is made to accomodate those who have difficulty walking by use of ATV's.
Elevenses are served in the field often consisting of freshly cooked pheasant goujons and a warming tipple.
Normally after the third drive everyone will return to the shoot lodge for a home cooked meal prepared by Jayne. After the meal and a little banter it is back out for the final drive or two (dependant on bag size etc).
Following the last drive of the day you will return to the shoot lodge for tea / coffee and a brace of birds if you wish.
Emphasis is enjoyment for all and the opportunity to forge new friendships with guns returning season after season.

A very last minute request to join my fourth shoot at Kingswood, and another brilliant day. Experienced a couple new drives I haven't done before, and they weren't for the faint hearted or a novice gun - my kinda' shooting. Met some lovely people as always and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. Usual heartfelt thanks to Colin, Jayne, David, beaters and pickers up. This has become my favourite shoot, and can't wait do do it again, Thanks very much!!!!

Just had my third day at Kingswood and experienced another spectacular day. Great drives, challenging high birds and the odd woodcock and partridge. I was fortunate enough to be part of a great team of guns, credit to the beaters and pickers up, brilliant job done by David,(keeper) and a heart felt 'thank you' to Colin and Jayne - amazing hosts as usual. Fabulous day and really looking forward to the next one!!!!

I was lucky enough to join a team of guns on a "thank you day" for some of the people that help out on the Kingswood shoot, what a great day we had, stunning topography, quality birds and great hosts in Colin and Jayne. PS not for beginners.

This is second time I've shot at Kingswood just as excellent as last time, shot on two different drives with excellent topography and fast high birds with the odd woodcock and partridge, thank you to Colin and Jayne for a fantastic day and to the keeper David and not forgetting an excellent team of beaters and pickers up. Looking forward to December, a real proper Cornish pheasant shoot!

I always find the shooting at Kingswood is on a par with much bigger estates and Colin and Jayne are superb hosts and always welcoming. You could not wish for better presented birds, some testing enough for the best shots. A real Cornish gem of a shoot.
