Endslee Shoot is a family run shoot, run by father and son Colin and myself (Matt). Colin first shot at Endslee 1984, in 1987 he took it on with his brother. I have been helping out on the Shoot from a young age, and had my first season carrying a gun in 1995 (aged 12), being watched very carefully by either my father or uncle. I took a more active role in running the Shoot with Colin in 2007. The Shoot has grown over the years, The Original drive used to be the only pen on Endslee, now we have 3. Millball Drive and The Gully. We also have a pen on Shears, but this has not been stocked for a few years. This is on the opposite side of valley to Endslee. We also have a pen at Cornakey farm, a few miles from Endslee. The Shoot hasn't changed much over the years and we are still a very challenging woodland shoot, snap shooting through the trees. 2017 saw a low point for Colin and myself when in September, 2 of our release pens where destroyed. Despite that, alot of hard work went into scatter feeding to try and hold some of the birds that were still about. We had a great season, and now the rebuild starts so we can re stock in 2019. Onwards and upwards for the future.

Members need to be of reasonable fitness as there are a number of different types of terrains to traverse.

We had our shoot reviewed in Shooting Gazettes UK shoot Guide April 2011. Heres what they said;

Walked-up shooting
Cornwall

Shoot name: Endslee Shoot

What's it like: A friendly and relaxed family-run rough shoot established over 25 years ago. A variety of shooting opportunities are possible, including walked-up and driven game shooting in the same day. The driven game comes from the various pens situated on the grounds. The shoot has two seperate locations, Endslee Farm and, north of that Cornakey Farm. Endslee Farm is set in the beautiful Coombe Valley, where being a good snap shot really helps as birds fly over the treetops. Cornakey Farm is set in a deep valley, producing extremely high birds

Where: Morwenstow, North of Bude

Size: 700 acres

Quarry: Pheasant, pigeon, woodcock and snipe

Topography: Undulating fields and steep wooded valleys

Shoot Owner/Gamekeeper - M.Rowe & C.Rowe

Insurance. All members must have full insurance

Rough Shooting is nothing like a day on a formal shoot, it requires sharp wits and the ability to shoot safely in all conditions. The majority of shooting at Endslee takes place in deep wooded valleys, its heavy going, you will need to have a fair level of fitness. We have the benefit of a drive below each of the 4 pens on the shoot.
Beating will be shared between guns on a rotating basis

Topography

Steep wooded valleys

A heart attack + arthritic knee have forced me to very reluctantly resign my gun on this cracking little shoot. If you want limp handshakes, false bonhommie, pegs and irrelevant frippery then this is not for you. If you love being challenged by quality birds and testing terrain, then this superb, well run outfit will tick all the boxes. It treads a fascinating path between Rough/Mini Driven sport and in 40 yrs as a professional commentator on Shooting sport for most of the leading field spot publications, I have never found a better value shooting opportunity. If you know of better Pheasant, Woodcock + Snipe shooting for less than £60 a day then I'd be very happy to know about it. Thanks Colin & co for an outstanding and most enjoyable shooting experience. Very sad not to be with you this year. Brian Gentry-Long

Well what another fantastic season with Colin & Matt Rowe, Great scenery and company. The shooting is challenging and sometimes unexpected as that wily woodcock suddenly bursts from cover! Any prospective Guns will have to be of a really good fitness level as the land is very challenging and there is a good amount of walking. Bag numbers really depend on the accuracy of those guns and also the weather conditions, This is proper walked up shooting so each gun makes there own luck! Every weekend is different! Anyway cant wait to join Colin & Matt again for another exciting season.

Mr. Wesley Langley

Having joined the syndicate as a complete novice to game shooting, I was made to feel very welcome. Everyone took the time to show me the ropes, and I was given loads of opportunity to work my newbie dog. The ground is varied and requires some level of fitness. I absolutely enjoyed every minute I was out, surrounded by such natural beauty. The shooting is fantastic, the birds are fast and will keep you on your toes. I cannot wait for Saturday to come and my ESS, Maverick even more so. The company is fantastic, all round a fantastic shoot and a great day out! Cannot wait till October 2013. Maverick, Duke and myself look forward to meeting any new members who may be lucky enough to share this place with us.
