Rectory Farm Shoot is located 5 miles outside the town of Carmarthen, We have two beats Shot mostly Wednesdays and Thursdays , a family run shoot set in superb countryside with fantastic topography. many drives are game cover crops or scrub gorse rough type land and small wooded banks driven over steep grass valleys also a few blocks of woodland driven over deep valleys across grass fields all showing high quality challenging sporting birds. Overall approximately 3000 acres different drives. Pheasants, Partridge no Duck. We have Woodcock later in the year driven from areas left for this purpose and limited days available.
The shoot has been established since 1997 and we are focused on producing quality high birds ,some of our infamous drives like the Quarry, Cethin , Heart attack hill (for beaters only) , just to name a few will test even the best game shots frequently having a ratio of 7-1. Most of our drives all pegs are on grassland and the guns have plenty of time to see the birds coming and you can see the whole line, there are no gliders these birds fly and climb .
Fully keepered, usual refreshments and lunch at local hotel on the shoot or estate house very friendly atmosphere split syndicated and let days. Syndicate days Bags average 200-300 standing 9-10 guns, let days for teams are tailored to suit.
There are a number of local hotels within the area happy to accommodate shooting parties, details upon request. The emphasis on this shoot is quality not quantity, we strive to provide a fantastic day out for all that will not be forgotten. December and January have driven woodcock Snipe etc mixed bag days these are very limited.
Hospitality
The host will meet the guns in the morning and place the guns on the pegs and be present through the day to ensure an enjoyable day is had by all.
Topography
the shoot is mainly set in super valleys with steep banks birds climbing high, grassland or hard tracks for standing guns

A shoot for everyone to try their hand at, with birds on every drive for all abilities from beginners to experienced shots. Hopefully looking to book again here, with the added bonus of a hotel/spa on site,

The day was over cast and windy the expected day was 180/200 bird day but we only shot 100+ which wasn’t a problem at All.all guns had shooting and some birds very testing indeed.the syndicate members were very nice and I was made very welcome and also by Adam the host who I traveled round with all day. I would definitely recommend a day here,the birds can be testing but are very much shootable on the drives I was involved in but there are drives that will definitely test the best shot.

This is the second time that I have shot on this welcoming and well organised shoot. Although one drive was a bit disappointing for all the remaining 4 drives were all very good in different ways. In general there was a good distribution of birds for each drive with some shooting for all. Inevitably in any shoot some areas of the line are less good than others. I shot from one end to the other and on every drive had some shooting and on several excellent. A particularly challenging drive is “Horseshoe” which provides high birds for all and in good volume. Placed on pegs and drives overseen by Adam M the host which I appreciate. Good day had by all and would thoroughly recommend. Pleasure to shoot with the team today thank you.
