Primrosehill (TD11 3TL) is situated in Berwickshire – the shoot covers over 2,500 acres across 3 farms with the main drives taking place in the steep sided Whiteadder valley. Using bracken beds and cover crops and some well situated woods these are some of the most challenging pheasants and partridges to be found in the country. As an established high pheasant shoot very few birds are out of range, but most are extreme. We pride ourselves in delivering some of the very best days shooting available.
For the 2026 season the shoot will be offering partridge days in September and October.
We have accommodation available in our local coaching in within Duns 3miles away which is ideal for guns.
Reviews from previous days:
“I loved the day shooting at Primrosehill and its gets better & better..as a result I can only describe the day as epic”
“when I think of some of the birds we saw during the second drive and wandering how one could get proficient at bringing them down”
“your unfaltering display of stratospheric pheasants was truly remarkable and I can only apologise for the fact I was utterly outclassed”
“in the first drive the birds were the best I have shot all season”
We are a traditional shoot – it’s about the quality of the day and the sport on offer, coupled with the way the day is run.
Hospitality
Bacon rolls and coffee on arrival, elevenses, lunch and tea are all provided for.
Birds
Birds are flushed from bracken/gorse and heather banks to produce challenging and high flying birds.
Topography
The shoot is focused around the Whiteadder valley which has steep ground as well as other local hill ground.
About the hosts
The day is typically hosted by the headkeeper, James Grigg.

What a day at Primrose Hill. The description of extreme is not exaggerated here. Birds are very well presented with the team creating the most relaxed atmosphere that creates a most enjoyable shooting experience. This is the place to be. The whole team worked amazingly well to provide a day to be remembered. 100% professional experience, excellent beaters , picking up team to be envied by any shoot and catering to satisfy the most expectant appetite. A shoot to return to , not a beginners experience but something to savor. Go here and shoot amazing birds and understand the work that goes into presenting them.

This was our teams first visit to Primrose Hill on a very hot day. We were welcomed firstly by the head keeper James then our host Jamie who took us into the shoot room for morning rolls, tea and briefing. Onto the first drive about 9:30 into some wonderful countryside shooting by the river (as were all drives). Luckily we had some cloud cover on our first drives and the birds flew well for so early in the season. Elevenses were in the field (just drinks due to the heat!) then lunch back at the shoot room prepared by Jamie's wife. The food was excellent along with ice creams due to the heat (a nice touch). Back out for our final drive of the day in the afternoon which was tricky due to the sun and heat but still plenty of birds. Back to the Shoot room Garden for refreshments and cakes for the final count and game cards. The day was superbly managed by James & his beating team and our host Jamie. I would highly recommend checking out Primrose Hill for a days shooting. We will be back.
