All the ingredients for a perfect day!
If there are no days advertised, try giving Neil our Shoot Manager a call for availability of full team days and individual pegs on our syndicate days!
Hospitality
For us, hospitality is as important as the shooting, so every effort is made to look after you and your team throughout the day. Your enjoyment is our absolute priority. Freshly brewed coffee on arrival; delicious elevenses, together with champagne and sloe gin presented in the field; and to finish, a fabulous two course lunch (main and dessert) with wine, plus cheese platter in our purpose-built Shoot Lodge. Guns can look forward to a delicious and unique meal with plenty of game options on the menu. Given notice, our chef is happy to produce whatever menu you request. We also offer superb accommodation (ten en-suite bedrooms, all dog friendly) and private dinning at the Royal Oak Inn, Yattendon, which is just five minutes from the Shoot Lodge.
Birds
Our 34 drives, spread across 10,000 acres, produce birds of all heights and levels of difficulty (check out the photo gallery!) so all guns can enjoy their sport, irrespective of their ability. Needless-to-say, there are birds that beat even the very best of guns! We shoot 200 to 400 bird days (typically 300) and can easily accommodate substantially bigger bags should guns wish to push on.
Topography
We hugely benefit from the topography, which produces some of the best top-class partridge in southern England zipping high off the steep North Wessex Downs banks to test the guns. To the south of the partridge beat, we are equally blessed with near perfect ground to produce best quality pheasant climbing high and fast out from the woods over the valleys across the central part of the Estate.
Conservation Efforts
Fifteen percent of the farmland is dedicated to protecting native species, creating habitats for beneficial insects and feeding farmland birds. We work with local organisations to record progress, ensuring we continue to improve habitats for wildlife.
About the hosts
Your day will be hosted by Neil, our Shoot Manager, who will also be your single point of contact throughout the year, from initial enquiry to follow-up after your day's shooting. On the day, a team of 40+ dedicated people, expertly managed by Andrew our Head Keeper, work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the very best sport possible.
Final thoughts
Well behaved dogs are most welcome and there is ample time and opportunity for those with dogs who wish to pick up, to do so. We are very happy to accommodate non-shooting guests, both out on the shoot watching, followed by lunch; or just joining the guns for lunch. The Shoot Lodge dining room can accommodate 20 for lunch with ease. On 31st August 2025 the Iliffe family celebrated 100 years of owning and living on the Yattendon Estate.
