Situated on the top of the Berkshire downs in a very accessible yet secluded position Woodrows Farm offers a family shoot with an emphasis on good fun, informality and hospitality. Shooting on Saturdays from the end of October we welcome full teams of eight guns or individuals at a cost of £250 per gun including vat.
Our average bag is usually about fifty birds composed of mainly pheasants with some partridge, pigeon and the occasional woodcock. The three hundred acre farm is bisected by a deep valley that gives us the chance to provide challenging birds driven from game cover and small woods by a team of beaters that will enjoy the day as much as you do.
Hosted by the landowner the day will commence by meeting at the shoot lodge for tea and coffee, then you will be transported in Landrovers to your pegs.
Given clement weather we stop for a light lunch in the field which includes sloe gin cocktails and home made fudge. If the weather is poor we adjourn to the shoot lodge for this. After the afternoon drives we usually finish about 3.30 pm. After this you will be able to enjoy a three course meal in the farmhouse of home cooked food accompanied by wine.
The shoot is only fifty miles from London and easily accessible from the M4 .

A day hampered somewhat by the weather, but delightful all the same. Some testing birds and some easier ones (missed, obviously). Good company, good chatter and an excellent, sumptuous repast in front of a roaring fire at the end - what's not to like? Hats off to Tim and his team; highly recommended.

This would have to be one of my favourite shoots of all time. Even though its a small day the birds fly very well. I have been on a number of the top shoots in the country and i truly believe it is the best hospitality i have ever experienced. The food is incredible, the wine is spot on and hosts are so welcoming. I would choose to shoot here over any of the neighbouring shoots. I will be shooting here for many years to come. Enjoyed a great days shooting with my Brother at Woodrows farm. Tim and Josie are excellent hosts with Josie's roast pork followed by home made apple pie in their farmhouse's dinning room just a perfect end to day of good company and good shooting. When the bag was a little under the total expected,Tim just ran some extra drives to help the bag alone so we ended up doing around 7 or 8 drives. I will be looking to visit again in the future.
