Marlston Shoot: 150 – 450 single gun and double gun days. Shooting pheasant, English and French partridge as well as occasional Wildfowl & some woodcock.
We are located on the edge of the Berkshire Downs an hour from West London by car or 45 minutes into Newbury station and offer the first taste of “real” countryside and so properly testing shooting west of London. Birds are pushed over deep wooded valleys and off game crops on high spots on the estate. With 20 named major drives and plenty of other options we can cater to all levels of guns – whether you are looking for a 150 bird late season day or a 300 bird mid-season bonanza.
Marlston can easily be done as a day trip from London, but we also have some fantastic places to stay very locally – from the Michelin starred Vineyard at Donnington, the widely acclaimed Pot Kiln at Frilsham and wonderful Royal Oak at Yattendon. Many other choices are available.
4 x 4’s, loaders, instructors, guns, cartridges etc. can all be arranged – please just ask!
With over 2000 acres of rolling countryside and over 500 acres of woodland and covers we have plenty of options to be able to provide a personalised day for all tastes. Whether that be a smart corporate environment with no holds barred or a friendly family day – the days are catered to your requirements. With a definitely eye on quality over quantity, we work to constantly evolve our drives and the use of our ground to make the days interesting and testing for all involved. Coupled with an eye on hospitality we provide an all-round packaged day tailored to your wants will not disappoint.
Catering and hospitality is based around our wonderful shoot lodge with roaring log burner creating a cheery atmosphere. Days start with coffee at the lodge and go onto elevenses of gin, soup and hot nibbles after the second drive. Usually we do 4 drives before lunch and 1 or 2 after lunch - although shooting through is always an option. Lunch is usually a couple of courses with full bar and wine and coffee, port or a sauternes is always an option! Tea and cakes round off the day.
Our ethos is “It’s your day, let us know what make a great day out for you”!

We had 2 very good 60 bird days, one in November and another in January. Both were excellent, with good birds shown through out the line on each drive. All done in a relaxed and convivial manner

We had a very enjoyable day shooting at Marlston yesterday. Alex was a brilliant host and looked after us superbly. This shoot is a real gem. It is in a fantastic location, an area of attractive countryside but also close to London. The drives are nicely varied and offered up some challenging birds. We had a delicious lunch in what is a spacious and comfortable lodge. I cannot recommend highly enough.

We took the last day of the season really as an excuse to get together and have fun and good sport. One week earlier saw the shoot ground covered in a foot of snow which thankfully managed to disappear. Under the circumstances we could not have had a better day. The team worked very hard to find and deliver some top quality birds over the guns who managed to knock a fair few down and there was plenty of opportunity to chat and build a great rapport with the beaters & pickers up. Very comfortable Lodge for lunch with the lunch fit for purpose. Really look forward to visiting again next season - highy recommended

Superb. Alex was a masterful host. with a tricky party. A foot of snow cover blighted fantastic efforts by Alex's team who could not have made more effort. Clearly an outstandingly shoot, far better than one might expect so near London, with some thrilling birds despite the weather. Without the heavy snow, it would have been my best shoot that season. I will always regret that weather as Marlston is a gem.
