Tulchan of Glenisla

Tulchan Lodge has a resident chef looking after the guest. Cooked breakfast, light elevenses with as gourmet twist, seasonal shoot lunches and formal dinners for house guests are part or the offering.

Our signature are the challenging fast flying contour hugging partridges, really the second best thing to driven grouse. Please check out the YouTube video "Poor Man's Grouse"

The topography varies from rolling hill ground in the lower part to steep mountain cliffs on the northern part of the estate.

Tulchan is engaged in re-forestation with native species, peatland restoration and the production of renewable energy.

The days will be hosted be Rob Mearns, our head stalker.

Please use post code or Auchavan in SAT, alternatively Folda. From there drive the tar road up the glen to its end and enter the gravel road leading to Tulchan. After 2 miles you arrive at Tulchan Lodge.

Tulchan Glenisla was historically a deer forest with some grouse offering the opportunity for family walked-up days in August. When grouse numbers dropped, we started to experiment with partridges. the idea was setting up drives in a way that the partridges would fly like grouse. So rather lower fast birds hugging the hill topography rather than very high birds. Over the years that has world out well and the result can be seen in Dave Carries video on YouTube "Poor Man's Grouse".
