SOUTHESK ESTATE

KINNAIRD CASTLE, BRECHIN, ANGUS

PHEASANT SHOOTING 2017/18

Introduction The Estate, which is owned by the Duke of Fife, is situated between the towns of Brechin and Montrose in the county of Angus, north of Dundee

The Shoot The shoot covers about 2500 acres but the main areas are around Kinnaird Castle and the Deer Park which cover 1300 acres. The park is, as one might expect, completely private and there is minimal travelling between drives. Most drives are pegged for 8 guns although up to 10 can be accommodated by arrangement. The extra ones might have to walk on some drives.

Approximately 9,000 birds are released each year and we expect to shoot a total of 25 days ranging from 150 to 350 birds per day.

The Shooting Day The day would start at around 9.15 with the guns congregating at Kinnaird Castle. The Head Keeper, Sandy Mackintosh will give you a quick briefing for the day. A wholesome lunch is served in the Castle at around 1pm and this includes a pre lunch drink.

Transport throughout the day can be provided in a forward control Landrover allowing all guns plus some guests to be together.

Price The standard price for the Season 2017/18 is based on £33 per bird plus VAT. The Estate undertakes to keep the bag within 10% of the contracted number. Increased bag can be agreed if wished.

Accommodation We can offer both catered and self-catered accommodation in either the Barony Flat or Macduff tower in Kinnaird Castle. Details of these can be sent on request.
