Siuated in the heart of Royal Deeside near Balmoral, Invercauld Estate includes some of the most extensive and finest driven and walked up grouse shooting and red deer stalking in Scotland in an abolutely stunning setting. A mixed highland estate, Invercauld stretches from the east of Ballater to Braemar and southwards into upland Perthshire north of Blairgowrie.
Shooting on Invercauld has previously been taken by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II and a select amount of shooting is now available each year for let. The Estate includes eight beats with a wide variety of grouse shooting and stalking to test both the beginner and experienced shot. Fishing is also sometimes available on the River Dee.
The elevation of the estate rises from 200m above sea level to over 1,190m encapsulating low lying rolling moorland to high craggy peeks with many tremendous views of parts of Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Moray, Highland and Angus. Granny scots pines and naturally regenerated birch combine with heather, gassland and the rich variety of natural fauna and flora to create an exceptional environment.
The clean air of Invercauld drew Robert Louis Stevenson from Edinburgh to Braemar in 1881 where he wrote part of Treasure Island. Today there is still much to see and do around Braemar with several places to eat and stay and an array of shops.
Driven grouse can be for up to 9 guns (depending upon the beat) and walked up days can be commonly for 15 brace depending on location, time of year and guns' experience. Stalking is always with an experienced stalker and on some beats ponies are used to return stags to the larder.
