GunsOnPegs was born when our founders needed to find a replacement Gun for a last minute drop out. While the current COVID-19 situation is clearly far more difficult, it is just the kind of scenario in which GunsOnPegs is ideally suited to help.
We are also aware of our reach within the shooting community, as well as our responsibility - to both Guns and shoots alike - to help minimise the impact of these new restrictions and keep losses to a minimum. However, as much as we would dearly love to see all shooting go ahead, we strongly feel that it is vital that people stick to the rules and don’t bring the shooting community into disrepute.
The latest restrictions mean that there will be teams of guns who can no longer attend days that have been bought and paid for, as well as shoots that can no longer put on days and stand to lose out. As such, we have a number of tools at your disposal that are outlined below, which can help to reduce the financial impact on both Guns and Shoots.
For Guns who have a day you now can’t attend
Naturally there is now a great deal of shooting available, and we believe that offering a discount will give you the best opportunity to recoup some of your funds. If you do this, we can promote it to our Premium members instantly. If you have a discount that you would like to share with our Premium members, please send us an email so we can distribute to Premium members instantly.
We would also recommend posting your availability, discount or otherwise in our Classifieds section. This is free for all GunsOnPegs members - join GunsOnPegs here.
Here are the steps we recommend that you take:
- Choose the level of discount you can accept - the higher the more likely it will sell
- Post in the Classifieds on GunsOnPegs
- Send us an email (theteam@gunsonpegs.com) with your offering and we’ll share with Premium members instantly
For Guns who can fit in an extra day
For those who are less restricted by these new regulations, there is now an opportunity to pick up some great opportunities on a vast range of days, from big to small, and help out some fellow guns who cannot make it in the process. We will be promoting every discounted day to all of our Premium Members instantly, saving you the hassle of having to visit GunsOnPegs many times a day.

For Shoots with teams that can no longer attend
The latest COVID restrictions mean that there will be teams of guns who can no longer attend days that have been bought and paid for, as well as shoots that can no longer put on days and stand to lose out. As such we wanted to draw attention to a tool we’ve created for just this kind of scenario - our discounted day alert system. At times like these, Guns will have their eye out for bargains, so there's a great opportunity to fill some last minute pegs and teams.
Incentives for local guns
We built our discounted days feature for shoots with last minute cancellations. The idea was that when the deposit has been paid already, you’re able to offer the day at a reduced rate to other guns and teams who might be persuaded given the price incentive.
In this scenario, we’ll find teams coming from some areas of the UK have to cancel, leaving shoots with gaping holes in their diaries. You might have collected a deposit from the teams, but in most cases this won’t be enough to cover costs.
We suggest offering the day at a discount to our Premium members to recoup some of the lost money. Already over the last few days we’ve had dozens of shoots doing similar, and whilst in some years this could be seen as desperation by guns, this year even the most exclusive shoots in the country are using discounts to sell some shooting locally.
Discounting a day by 20% or more will trigger an automatic email to more than 2,700 Premium members, and of course, the bigger the discount, the greater the chance of filling your pegs.

- Add your shoot for free on ShootHub by GunsOnPegs
- Add your date to your listing
- In the ‘Date Boost’ section, use the ‘three rockets’ symbol to trigger an automatic email, or use the Premium Member price field to set a bigger incentive
