At the start of 2020 GunsOnPegs pledged to donate £1 to the Country Food trust for every enquiry that GunsOnPegs users made to shoots over the course of the year. Despite the dramatic upheavals that last year brought, and a corresponding drop in the number of shoot days taking place, we are proud to have been able to write a cheque for £7,500 to the Country Food Trust,
This means that we have been able to provide 7,500 healthy, nutritious game-based meals to people who need it most. The CFT’s use of copper-shot venison has meant that these meals can be provided to children, the importance of which was highlighted by Marcus Rashford’s campaign around free school meals.

We are also thrilled that GunsOnPegs members responded to our call to arms before Christmas, donating a combined £25K to the CFT’s Winter appeal.
As markets for shot game and especially venison have dropped off owing to the disruption in the hospitality industry, finding new uses for these valuable sources of protein is incredibly important, and the CFT provides a brilliant mechanism to get game into the hands of those who need it most.
As Lockdown bites once more, and more jobs are placed at risk, it has never been more important to find ways of supporting people who have fallen on hard times. We are proud supporters of the Country Food Trust and will continue to help promote and fund their vitally important work over the weeks, months and years to come. We would like to thank all our members for their contributions over the last 12 months, no matter how big or small.
