GunsOnPegs review the latest lace-up boot by the masters of rubber wellingtons; the Chameau-Lite by Le Chameau.
The Chameau-Lite are comfortable, lightweight boots, that you can wear all year round in any conditions (that I have seen in the UK).
Best feature:
Weighing in at only 1.41kg per pair, these boots are unbelievably light weight. This is particularly beneficial when walking long distances over challenging terrain and even more so if you are carrying heavy kit with you.
Most surprising feature:
The Chameau-Lite features the exclusive ‘Deep Forest’ sole developed in partnership with Michelin, which I have been told is based on motocross tyre technology.
Type of hunting aimed at:
As the name suggests, these boots are designed for stalking. However, they look absolutely fantastic and with a growing number of people preferring to wear lace-up boots as opposed to wellingtons on driven days; these would certainly not look out of place!
Why I should consider this product:
If you are a keen stalker they are a fantastic option. The ones that I have worn are the 10" stalker boots, however if you want something with more support there is a high 12" boot or if you are looking for extra protection there is a kevlar 10" boot. The 10" stalker would also work fantastically well on a driven day if you prefer lace-up boots to wellies.
Design for use in what kind of weather:
I have covered a great deal of miles in these boots, having worn them on driven days, walking up grouse in Scotland, stalking in the heat of a Spanish summer and hunting in Scandinavia and they have never let me down. I have not had wet feet and have remained as comfortable as to be expected in the conditions I have been walking in.
