Run by the Brewer family, this is a super shoot with some testing drives set in scenic Exmoor bordering the well known Chargot shoot. This shoot prides itself on delivering quality birds and you will leave here with some lasting memories.
If you are staying the night before the shoot, the excellent accommodation at the Wood Advent Granary is of the highest standards. This barn has been specifically converted for shoot parties with 8 en-suite bedrooms and a large dining and seated area for a great party.
The friendliness of the hosts pervades throughout the day and you will enjoy the atmosphere in the shoot trailer as you travel around the narrow lanes from drive to drive. On several drives standing areas for the pegs have been dug to provide the guns with a flatter surface to shoot on the steep topography. Getting to some of the pegs can involve a steep walk, but its well worth it!
The shooting offered can test the best of shots. The deep valleys lined with tall trees ensures that many of the drives present birds that are high and often curling so you will need to use all your skill to judge the line of the bird.
There is a wide selection of drives that provides sufficient flexibility to adapt the day both for weather conditions and the preferred bag size.
The hospitality on offer sets the standard for most shoots, with coffee and tea on arrival, elevenses, a hearty lunch either at the Granary or the converted barn and tea is usually served with the beaters when you can reflect on a superb day.

Wood Advent produces a large number fantastic birds.

Taking a late one over the valley.

The Wood Advent Granary is one of the best shoot lodges with rooms that we have been to.

David Brewer is a brilliant shoot host.
