Every year we look forward to the British Shooting Show. Unlike other shows we attend, we don't have a stand so we're there as members of the public, meaning we can enjoy the show and properly explore. There's always loads to see and do, but here are the things at this show that we're most excited about.
Learning about Gunmaking
For the duration of the British Shooting Show a number of the UK’s finest gunmaking craftsmen have relocated their workbenches to the NEC. This offers a chance to experience first-hand the painstaking care that goes into making shotguns and rifles by hand. If you’ve never seen it before, it is an eye-opening experience - not to be missed!
Exploring The Winchester Collection
As fans of both natural history, human history and hunting in all its forms, the Old West is a topic of great interest to several of the GunsOnPegs team, so we’re very excited to explore the largest collection of Winchester rifles outside the USA. Winchester rifles, alongside the pickaxe and shovel, were key tools in ‘how the West was won’.
Wild Chef Cooking Demonstrations
Ralph Skripek is a game shot and fisherman, but is probably best known as a professional chef, having written a game cookbook, appeared on BBC Radio Derby and his appearances on ‘The Cornish Countryman’ films. We’re always excited to learn new game cookery skills, so Ralph’s demos in the Arena are a must-see.
Go hunting… for bargains
The British Shooting Show is a wonderful chance to pick up some of those fabled ‘show discounts’ and save yourself a few quid on that bit of kit you’ve been hankering after but couldn’t quite justify, or do a bit of impulse shopping!
Find out what’s new
The British Shooting Show is traditionally when many shooting brands, from gunmakers to cartridge companies and outfitters, choose to launch new products onto the market. We’re looking forward to wandering the exhibition space, checking out the stands and seeing what exciting new kit is coming onto the market.
Meeting old friends and new
As the first big shooting event of the calendar year, the shooting show is often where we bump into those people we haven’t had a chance to see during the season, and where we make new friends through chats at the bar. The GunsOnPegs team will be at the show on Friday exploring the stands - come and say 'Hi!' if you spot us!
The event takes place at the NEC in Birmingham between Friday 17th and Sunday 19th February 2023. Buy your tickets to the show here.
