Whilst preparing the INEOS Grenadier Road Trip, one of the aspects which I underestimated was kit I would need for the journey. Both the time taken to get it all and the sheer volume of fishing, stalking and shooting clobber was extraordinary.
I can only imagine that for those lucky individuals who spend their lives travelling the country fishing and shooting, packing for a week-long sporting adventure would become second nature. For others like me though, I thought you might find it useful to see what was required for each aspect. Perhaps you could use it as a bit of a checklist when you embark on similar journeys in the future.

Outerwear
- Le Chameau wellies
- Brandecosse walking boots - I always travel with both as you never know what to expect until you get there. When stalking or walked-up shooting I tend to wear my boots and on a day with a bit of standing around I opt for wellies
- Purdey Field Coat
- Lightweight Sasta fieldcoat
- Waterproof trousers
- Long camo coat outer shell
- Cordings flat cap

- Snowbee waders - I was long overdue a new pair of waders and chose this trip to take the plunge. Having had these fitted in store I would highly recommend. They were slightly baggier than I would have chosen for myself but 100% don't regret it due to the increased mobility it gave me
- Snowbee wading jacket
- Snowbee wading boots
- Ocean chest waders - a less precious pair for wildfowling in the estuarine mud
- Harkila stalking suit

Clothing
- Warm trousers - particularly for spring or back end fishing; there's nothing worse than being waist deep in a freezing river all day
- 6x Farlows shooting shirts
- 2x Farlows breeks
- 4x Farlows shooting socks
- 6x Farlows shooting ties

- Purdey fleece
- Farlows shooting jumper
Shooting equipment
- Two shotguns - I always bring a spare when travelling far from home - there's nothing worse than having an ejector break on you at the beginning of a week away, particularly likely given the age of my guns!
- Cartridge bag
- Cartridge belt
- Gun slip
- Ear defenders
- Duck decoys

Stalking equipment
- Rifle
- Swarovski binos
- Swarovski spotting scope
- Knife

Fishing equipment
- 2x 15ft double handed rods
- 2x salmon reels - My Skagit line for big water and windy conditions came in handy for the first half of the day; we had properly autumnal conditions to battle with. Then I changed to my double tapered spey line which I much prefer using as the wind died down
- Sink tips
- Leader
- Flies
- Tubes & hooks
- Fly tying equipment

Road trip equipment
- Head torch
- Camping kit - for my night on the roof of the Grenadier
- Weber Traveller BBQ

- 1x INEOS Grenadier - the ultimate fieldsports road trip vehicle

If anyone is lucky enough to be planning a trip of this sort in the future, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I would be delighted to help share my learnings, answer any questions and most importantly, offer to join you for the ride!
